Everything You Need To Know About KeyWatch
Since the beginning of 2025, Key Watch Ghana, in collaboration with consultants, legal practitioners, allies, and donors, has been engaged in intensive planning and consultations.
The goal was to develop a comprehensive proposal advocating for the constitutional recognition and protection of intersex persons in Ghana. Through collective effort and expert input, the proposal was finalized in April 2025.

Identity and Purpose
Key Watch Ghana operates at the intersection of human rights, social justice, public health, and community empowerment. The organization is intersex-led and youth-centered, placing the lived experiences, voices, and leadership of intersex people at the forefront of all interventions. We aim to create an inclusive and equitable Ghana where intersex people are recognized, protected, and supported to thrive.
Organizational Overview
Key Watch Ghana (KWG) is a national human rights organization dedicated to protecting, promoting, and advancing the rights and well-being of intersex and gender-diverse children, young people, and adults across Ghana. Established as a community-rooted, grassroots initiative, the organization works to challenge systemic discrimination, harmful cultural norms, and institutional gaps that continue to violate the dignity and bodily autonomy of intersex individuals.
Objective
1. To provide comprehensive knowledge on sex characteristics including chromosome patterns, gonads, or genitals.
2. To provide socioeconomic empowerment and skills development for intersex persons.
3. To provide reproductive and sexual health rights services
4. To engage with the relevant agencies to ensure that the fundamental human rights of all is attained, with emphasis on intersex persons.
5. To contribute to data collection, processing and dissemination on intersex persons.
6. To collaborate with like-minded institutions through dialogue, advocacy and networking.To ensure that the needs and aspirations of intersex persons are realized.
